Is Stevia Really Healthier Than Other Sugar Substitutes?

Pink, blue, yellow, green – there is a rainbow of colors when it comes to sugar substitutes. While using them can add a little sweetness while minimizing calories and added sugars, low-calorie sweeteners have never had a great reputation health-wise.

However, the Center for Science in the Public Interest gives stevia (the green one) one of only two “safe” ratings in its substitute comparison. So is stevia a safe—or safer—option than sugar or other sugar substitutes? I dug into the latest research to find out.
